Comprehensive Physical Examinations

Each patient will receive medical attention tailored to suit the individual patient’s needs with a focus on the musculoskeletal, circulatory, and nervous systems.

The Interview:

Each patient member will be interviewed directly by the physician.  Upon initial visit to the office, a patient may either be asked to complete a detailed medical questionnaire link to questionnaire and/or to discuss recent symptoms with the physician, including current medications and any allergies, with a focus on possible sites of joint pains, muscles aches, or abnormal skin sensations (regions of numbness or tingling).  Reference may be made to a classic pain diagram link to pain diagram on which patients may draw to indicate areas of discomfort on the body and the severity.  Patients are encouraged to feel free to elaborate on any problem or concern, as not all patients’ symptom presentations will fit the same mold or match up with a similar profile.  The effect of symptoms upon lifestyle, functional goals, and other related concerns may also vary.

The Physical Exam

The neuromusculoskeletal physical examination is designed to evaluate flexibility, movement, strength, reflexes, and functionality.  General posture, body stance, and walking pattern may be analyzed.  Orthopedic and neurological maneuvers may be performed to elicit the etiology of pain, to target areas of muscle weakness, to reveal joint laxity or instability, and to detect spine and limb abnormalities, injuries, or deformities.  Evaluation of neurological function may include testing of muscle strength, skin sensation, reflexes, balance, and coordination.

Advanced Health Screening & Early Detection Protocols

Microvascular Screening & Live Microscopy:

A healthy circulatory system is the key to general wellness.  Changes leading to vascular health or harm may begin in the small capillaries long before effects are detectable in larger vessels.  Click here to learn more about microvascular health screening and Vital Vascular Visits.

Neurovascular Screening & Electromyography

Peripheral neuropathy often occurs together with peripheral vascular disease and can develop due to similar risk factors, including smoking, diabetes, dietary deficiencies, age, and family history.  Click here to learn more about risk factors and screening for peripheral neuropathy.

Nutritional Counseling & Dietary Supplements

Although general guidelines exist, nutritional theory is ever evolving.  Nutritional advice is customized to the individual with respect to age, lifestyle, physical activity, and goals.  Outcomes vary.  Whereas some patients respond to traditional diet plans, others need to tip the food pyramid.  Any dietary recommendations or changes should always be approved by a primary care provider, particularly in cases of diabetes, heart, kidney or liver disease.
